I like ASAT specials, been jonesing for a fullerton red gtr, and i am a bargain shopper. Found one that satisfies these criteria and took delivery today.
2007 or so ASAT special, sperzel locking tuners (my 1st gtr with these), maple fretboard with mild wear - has been played alot, nice and smooth, fast. frets still in good shape. Probably a 1C neck, chunky but not unpleasant. Perfect string alignment, very resonant, no neck bow, nice string action. Body with no sig dings or scratches, surprising in light of neck wear. p'ups DCR 5.18 at neck, 5.35 at bridge, compared to my '89 ASAT which has 4.57 n and 4.88 b. Sounds glorious, a little hotter than the '89 thru the drive channel. I'm such a huge fan of these p'ups!
What a beauty. I am going to put a cream guard and pup covers and some custom knobs on it. I really like the cream/fullerton red combo. Currently has black pearloid guard and black pup covers. Not bad looking as is. I'll show some pics after I fix it up and also take a look in the neck pocket. cheers...

Re: NUGD
Great looking guitar - but will be much more to my taste once that pickguard is changed Congratulations, happy it's gone to someone who will make it better (neck wear reminds me of my F100 ; nice.)

Re: NUGD
Thanks, guys. I did peek into the closet and the neck and body dates are both in June 2007.
It is a heavy guitar. Right up there with my comanche and my les paul. I should get a decent scale to compare.
A good strap balances that out a bit. Maybe the non-contoured alder body contributes.
Plus, the ASAT bodies in '07 were a little thicker than the original Leo era specs they are using now.
The + trade off is amazing tone. That's part of what we're after, right?

Very nice indeed!
Hope this helps.
