2003 vs. 2017 Bluesboy

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

2003 vs. 2017 Bluesboy

Post by Stick »

Anyone know the differences between a 2003 Bluesboy, and a 2017? Also, any opinion as to which is a better instrument and why?? Obviously one is used, the other new. The 2017 has an Okoume body, the 2003 I am guessing is alder or swamp ash. I understand the Okoume is softer and therefore more easily dinged.

Looking at both. Used in very good condition. Assume the prices are similar.

Thanks.

The new one would have been PLEKed. I don't think either one is clearly better than the other. The 2003 would have been built with a Seth Lover in the neck position. 2017 could have been ordered with a Seth Lover as an option, or built with G&L's own alnico HB that is similar in spec to a Seth Lover. If it it is truly new you would have warranty. Personally if they were about the same price, I would go with the newer one that has warranty and PLEked. If both are actually used, then I'd go with the one that you feel is the better deal or you like the appearance better????
