BBE Ben Wah

Post by john o »

I ordered one of these to replace my ailing early 80's Crybaby wah which seems to have a significant negative impact on my guitar's tone
when it's "off". I was looking around for wah's that don't kill tone and came across this. Looks pretty good. Anybody have experience with this one??

Not yet, I've wanted one for ages. All the BBE pedals I've used have been excellent and I think these would be too. They were infamously used by a boutique manufacturer who re-badged them, gooped the circuit board and sold them as his own, I forget who it was.

I remember reading about this issue before (statements were made by Robben Ford and Michael Landau who were endorsers of some Vertex effects), but didn't know then that the BBE wah was the one that was pirated.
The brand was Vertex and the CEO of that company was Mason Marangella. Fraud and misrepresentation were involved.
