Hello from New York's Hudson Valley. I just picked up a near-new (06/18) ASAT Classic a few days ago. I'm really impressed by the sound, build quality and playability. In fact, the sheer quality of the instrument has me wondering if it's production or custom shop. It came with a COA but I don't know if that comes with all USA G&Ls or not. Can anybody fill me in on that?
I would post some pics but I'm too lazy to resize them to get around the size limitations.

Hi Torz,
First, Welcome to our insanity & collective madness for all things G&L.
Second, all US made G&L's are supposed to come with COAs. If you purchase from Guitar Center, who knows. The Tribute line does not.
Last, please enter your guitar in our registry.
Take care.

See this post in our G&L Knowledgebase: Serial number significance.
Regarding posting photos, see Tutorial: Posting photos for details and examples.
Specifically this:
And like guitar_ed said, please added your ASAT Classic to our G&L Registry. There are three BBCodes in the editor you can use to post your photo image:
Img : [img]image_url[/img]
thumb= : [thumb="width,height,image_url alt_text"]image_url[/thumb]
timage: [timage="width,height"]image_url[/timage]
If you are posting a large photo greater than 1024 pixels wide X 1300 pixels high,
you must use the thumb= tags or timage= tags with the size no bigger than "1024,1300",
which will place a resized image of your photo as a link to the full size image.
Also, make sure the image_url is to an image file, not an album or slideshow.
Hope this helps.

I say welcome as well. However, as we say around the forum, it doesn't exist without photos. So please read the stuff Craig sent you and please post some pics. We love guitar porn of all types.

Re: New member, and a question
That looks to be an ASAT Classic Alnico. If it was production from the G&L Fullerton factory, the pickups are modeled after the Tele's of the late 50s/early 60s.
See reference posts: List of pickups used in G&L guitars and List of Regular Production ASAT-style guitars (USA).
Body wood looks to be Alder which is the standard wood type for Cherryburst finish, but Swamp Ash was an optional wood type, too.
If you got the Custom Build Specifications sheet with the COA sheet, it will give you the details.
Also, check out this post for details on the serial number: Serial number significance.
It is a beauty.
Hope this helps.

Hi Torz!
Welcome and that is one beauty of an ASAT. Look forward to hearing more about your impression of her and what yer next G&L will be.
Jump in often and as you see, there are many knowledgeable folks here if you have any G&L questions.

Thanks for the info, according to the spec sheet you're pretty much correct in every detail - it is indeed a swamp ash body (6.1 lbs!).Craig wrote:That looks to be an ASAT Classic Alnico. Hey Torz, sweet ASAT Classic Alnico. That top binding sure is sweet. Most G&L's actually built to order guitars and since yours has the option ash body with the Cherryburst and binding, it was clearly built to order. Standard factory spec runs are some of the signature models, Fullerton Standards, the new CLF Research line (loving these!), and Tribute series (imports).
How do you like those Alnico PUs? All mine have MFDs (except the JB-2).
Cheers and welcome, Dan

WitSok, I really like the Alnicos, they're among the best Tele style pickups I've heard. I'd love to try the MFDs one day though.
