Poor sustain

Post by TH1996 »

Hi everyone, I have a 1986 G&L RAMPAGE with an original kahler trem system and original behind the nut string locks. It plays great except for notes particularly on the G string past the 11th fret, they dont jave very good sustain compared to the rest of the neck and the A and E strings also has this issue with a few areas. What could this be from. It's set up quite well, maybe an uneven fret?

Very possibly,
Use a short straight edge as a 'fret rocker' to see if that's the case.
I'd raise the action a little to see if that improves things, then find
someone with the proper tools to smooth things out.

...and Welcome :)

Welcome to our site!

Being that this is your first post, I moved it to this sub-forum. Please see: Welcome! Read This First post.

We need photos otherwise your guitar does not exist! ;)
And don't forget to add it to our G&L Registry.

Tell us a little more about yourself and where you reside.
