G&L SB-1 case options?

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

G&L SB-1 case options?

Post by nanookofnj »

Good morning. Long time owner of a USA SB-1 custom bass. Have had problems with the 2 "main" latches on "deluxe" tolex case since purchasing. My latches are the type that slide to the side to open and have failed constantly. The latch itself appears to be extremely cheaply made and separates. Are there any non G&L cases that hold an SB-1 snugly and will protect the bass? I'd rather not drop another $200 on a G&L case only to have my bass compromised on the way to or from a gig bc of a cheap latch failing. Thanks for any advice on this.

While I can't tell you if any of them will fit, I would look at the SKB cases. There is a fellow that sells them on Ebay at very reasonable prices. The SKB website should tell you if there are any that will fit your bass. If you want to spend more money, look at Hiscox. I have one of their cases for my acoustic and they are awesome. The Hiscox folks are very helpful with fit questions.
