My G&L USA Jerry Cantrell Signature Rampage !!

Post by Kenny821 »

Well FINALLY !! .... Here it is folks, My 2017 G&L USA Jerry Cantrell Signature Rampage !! ... I had a couple of guys interested in seeing it and I finally got the pics uploaded. I purchased the Jerry Cantrell Tribute Rampage 3 months earlier but I just wasn't happy with it, so I sent it back without even playing it or setting it up. I called my local G&L dealer and ordered the US Rampage on the same day I sent the Tribute model back. 3 months later the US Cantrell Rampage was in my hands. It is by far, the most comfortable guitar I have ever played. It has a single Seymour Duncan JB TB4, a Kahler Pro Series 2320 brass tremolo, Floyd Rose locking nut, 500K Volume knob...Bare bones, meat n potatoes guitar with kick ass tone and playability, I can't say enough good things about the USA Rampages, they are AWESOME and I am the proud owner of this one ....I hope you all dig it as much as I do ... Enjoy !! \m/\m/

Wow! That is a beautiful guitar! Is that an ebony board or rosewood? I have yet to try a G&L with the Kahler... I have heard that the sustain is really good on them. Congrats!

It's an ebony board, ( my cell phone camera flash lightened some things up like the board and headstock but the headstock is matching Ivory ) I have seen a couple Tribute Rampages on different sites for sale with rosewood boards, but Jerry Cantrell always had ebony boards on his , the Kahler is dive bomb heaven, I prefer the Kahler over Floyds because I'm heavy handed and to me the Kahlers return to pitch more often than a Floyd

Both the US and Tribute Series models have only Ebony fretboards.

They both look like Ebony fretboards to me. Some people do not know the visual difference between Rosewood and Ebony.
It's just a listing error on both of those Ads.

Reference posts are in: G&L Specifications and Options.
Look at the Tribute Series Production Models posts.

Hope this helps.

I don't know if it's just me but all three of the guitars listed in the links provided specifically say the fretboards are Ebony. So where's the Rosewood issue?

As Craig said, I think it just a wrong listing ....or the seller can't see straight. I know all Jerry Cantrell Tribute and USA Signature Rampages come with ebony boards and only available in Ivory, Black, or Whiskey color options.... the boards on the guitars in the 2 links I've provided definitely look lighter than mine to me, the flash on my cell phone camera lit up the board and headstock in my pics, but in person the ebony board is black as night and the headstock matches the Ivory body.

Too bad the pics are so over exposed. This guitar probably looks much better when you can make out the details.

Cell phone camera flash on a new shiny guitar... It's Ivory with matching headstock showing Jerry Cantrell's signature, ebony fingerboard, Seymour Duncan JB TB4 pickup, black brass Kahler Pro Series 2320 tremolo, a single 500K volume control, black hardware .... what other specific details were you looking for ?

Oh, I wasn't looking for specific details. I was like the proverbial boy peeking through a slightly frosted window whose frost was obscuring the finer details of the guitar I was peeking in to see. In this case, I was just sad that the details were washed out by the exposure.

No worries.

looks awesome. my Rampage was my 2nd ever G&L, first G&L guitar. got it back in 2012, it's the tribute. i honestly don't play it much anymore because that Kahler trem sucks to keep in tune. I always wanted a locking trem so i could go nuts with it, but once I got it i realized what a headache the thing is. I neglect her now lol has a broken E and I just haven't bothered replacing it because I know how annoying it'll be changing the strings and attempting to keep fresh strings in tune on that thing. i bought a superhawk tribute years later and use that thing 10x more only because it's hard tail....but it doesn't have the same tone as the rampage bc the superhawk has a tone knob in line, whereas the rampage is just volume. rampage def sounds more in your face than the hawk...guess i just have to change the strings on her again and get it in tune and never touch the trem lol maybe just block it off or soemthing.
G&L:

I had the Cantrell Tribute Rampage, I only kept it a few days...when I received it the pickup was falling out of the body, the Kahler was not fully countersunk as it should be, the color on it was more "banana pudding yellow" than Ivory, I just wasn't happy with it. I haven't had any problems with the Kahler Pro Series 2320 on my Signature Model Rampage, but the 4300 X-Trem on the Tribute model I didn't care for, Since buying the US Cantrell Signature model, I have never been happier, it's AWESOME \m/
