Legacy USA intonation screws

Post by Aeropilot »

Hello all,

My apologies if this is obvious to you all, but I have been searching all over the internet for this.

I broke one of the intonation screws on the DF tremolo on my '97 Legacy USA. I have been able to find similar screws where I live, but they are metric. Although they appear to be the same size, the threads are not the same.

Could anyone tell me what the correct dimensions for the intonation screws are? Is there anywhere I can order them that will ship internationally? I have found the saddle replacement set on the G&L store, but I only need one screw and with shipping and import tax that will be a very expensive screw.

Thanks for the help!

Cheers!

I sent your post to one of my contacts at G&L to get the answer.

Stay tuned.

As an alternative you can take the another intonation screw to your hardware store and use a thread pitch measurement tool, either the sawtooth kind or one you try to screw your test subject into. The latter variety I know as a 2 part devices. One part helps you determining the diameter, the other the thread pitch. The device looks something like this.

I have never done a measurement for imperial measurement G&L screws. the only thing I know is what wrenches to use.

Hope this helps,

Hello again,

Sorry to bump the thread, but this is driving me crazy. :D

I've been to all the local hardware stores, the problem is that they all stock metric screws. The closes I can get is similar in size (3mm x 16mm), but the threads are not the same and won't fit.

Any news from your contact, Craig? So I can try to order some online.

Thank you very much, I appreciate your help!

Unfortunately no word from my contact yet. However, I looked at my 1990 Skyhawk Signature model's DFV and measured the length of the intonation screws as being 5/8" in length. I checked http://www.allparts.com and
found these: https://www.allparts.com/GS-0004-005-Pa ... _1701.html. Size is #4-40 X 5/8" . However, I cannot guarentee that this is the same screw.

I will try again to get the actual screw size from the factory this week.

Sorry for the delay.

I got confirmation on that screw size:
Hi Craig,

You are correct. 4-40 by 5/8”

Thanks,

Spencer
Hope this helps.
