Changing out the pickguard in Comanche

Post by Enochwel »

I have two questions:

On the Tribute Comanche 2017, can the pickguard and pickups be swapped out to single coil slots without having to cut the wood beneath?
Just in case I ever feel the need to mess with it as I'm prone to do...

second question:
When will the new 2017 White model be available to purchase through retailers?

Both the USA and Tribute Comanche will have a bathtub route, so yes you can swap out for a pickguard with single coil slots. Note, Tribute and USA pickguard are different. Chandler requires you send the original pickguard if you are ordering a replacement for a Tribute model. Typically hole locations are different between Import and USA. Also, I believe the heal width on the neck is different between the Tribute series and USA (I know the necks are not interchangeable).

As for your other question, I'm not sure when the new colors in the Tribute series will become available.

Cheers, Dan

Chandler.... cool. Just took a look at their site. This is building a good case for a Comanche tribute purchase... the electronics platform issue was really my only concern with this guitar, which seems to be taken care of now.

Thanks for the response!

Once you get your Comanche, check out this post in our G&L Knowledgebase before doing any pickup swap: Comanches For Dummies Redux by BoogieBill.

Hope this helps.

It was first available with the August 1, 2017 Tribute Series Dealer Price List and you should be able to order one from any G&L dealer who sells the Tribute Series line.

Hope this helps.

There's a few dealers on ebay and craigslist who have the new Comanche already

Thanks for all the replies. They were helpful in my shopping process. I'll look forward to having a solid body electric again.

Edit:
Just viewed a bunch of pictures of it on eBay. Wow! This off-white is a much more beautiful look to me than the prior color. Now I'm really feeling the excitement. What an all round beautiful guitar!
