what kind of invader do i have?
clf54665 Is the serial number.
Here is my issue. Do I have a invader plus or an invader plus deluxe?
This site http://guitar-asylum.blogspot.com/2009/ ... r-red.html show what my guitar looks like and the description is bang on as far as pickups and color and floyd and neck and its listed as a 2009, but it says the body is swamp ash. But looking at a price list from this site on 2010 it shows that flamed maple only comes on a mahogany body. So I am trying to figure out which is correct. From what I can see it is a flamed maple top, or i am losing my mind I bought it from Guitar center here is the listing that is still up there although listed as sold obviously http://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/GL/INV ... -Guitar.gc ( if you go full size with the pics you can see the body very well) They have it listed as a 2009 deluxe. So if anyone can clear this up that would be great. Thank you and if you need any other information I can try to help but that is all I have. Would like to know if i have swamp ash or a mahogany body. Thank you all in advance.
So do I have an invader plus? Or Do I have an invader deluxe plus? http://guitarsbyleo.com/FORUM/viewtopic ... 36&t=14164 here is the price list and desciption for the 2010 which also maches my guitar from what i can see. So I cant figure out who is right.

Re: Invader, deluxe or plus what do i have?
It looks like you have an Invader Plus in Clear Red with Flamed Maple Top. The FMT is an option on any guitar. The Clear Red is a premier finish that is generally found on swamp ash. Below is the G&L site showing the Invader Plus.

Re: Invader, deluxe or plus what do i have?
I was reading the options page and i see the flamed maple top was an option as you said, but how do we know its not a deluxe though? If you look on this page http://www.yowhatsshakin.com/_gallery/p ... 101/p4.jpg and see the price list here from 2010. and description would match what i have as well. so it seems the catch is weather or not the body is swamp ash or machogny In my view am I wrong?

Re: what kind of invader do i have?
If it is an Invader Plus Deluxe the body should have the natural wood top binding. In the links you provided, the photos there don't show a natural wood binding on the body.invader1993 wrote:clf54665 Is the serial number.

Please post some photos showing both the front and back of the body. We should be able to identify the body wood from the back of the body photo.
Also, include a photo of the serial number because we already have CLF54665 registered in our G&L Registry and it is listed as a Legacy.
Once I get confirmation of the actual serial number, I will contact one of my G&L contacts and have them look up the factory details on this guitar.

It all depends upon how busy they are.invader1993 wrote:Curious, how long does it typicall take before you here back from the fatory and what all do they usually tell you?
They usually provide the build specs, the completion date and which dealer it was shipped to.

Are we still going to get the information? I know it takes time but this seems like an unusual amount of time for this informationCraig wrote:It all depends upon how busy they are.invader1993 wrote:Curious, how long does it typicall take before you here back from the fatory and what all do they usually tell you?

It looks like my first email did not get delivered, so I re-sent the email and just heard back from Spencer:
Sorry for the delay.Hi Craig,
I have this as:
INVADER PLUS DELUXE CLEAR RED MP
Completed on 5/13/09
Sold to Guitar Asylum in Miller Place NY
So it should have Flame Maple Top over African Mahogany body.
Thanks,
Spencer
Hope this helps.

Re: what kind of invader do i have?
I am very thankful for your help. I do have a question though. I posted this to facebook awhile ago. I sent this to the g&L facebook inbox clf54665 is the serial number, can you provide me any information at all on the guitar, I know there are no build sheets laying around but anything would help please.
Their reply was
" Hello, Production date on the Invader is May 13, 2009.. the body wood is swamp ash, the neck is 1-11/16 nut width, 12" radius , seymour duncan 59 in the neck , and a seymour duncan JB for bridge, the middle pickup is a Gotoh dual blade pickup,"
So now you can see my confusion, as your guys says its mahogany, g&l face book reply's with swamp ash. So I am lost on who is correct as mine does not have the binding you mentioned or the neck they describe in the sales aids. So if you ca tell me who is correct I would be greatful. I am not doubting your guy its tough when they both contradict each other

Re: what kind of invader do i have?
It's clear that your guitar has a Flamed Maple top and the body would be Mahogany as per the specifications for the Invader Plus Deluxe. If the body wood was substituted with Swamp Ash,invader1993 wrote:I am very thankful for your help. I do have a question though. I posted this to facebook awhile ago. it would have been recorded as such in the Factory Log. My money is on the info from Spencer (Shop Foreman) above.
How about posting a photo of the back of the body with the control cover removed, so we can see the wood inside of the cavity? Or you could remove the neck and post photo of the neck pocket.

Is the control cover with the tremlo unit or the electronics?

How about removing them both and then post a photo? Hopefully one of the cavities will have some exposed wood so we can determine the actual wood type.invader1993 wrote:Is the control cover with the tremlo unit or the electronics?

No such luck from what i can see.
I just dont understand how this can be so confusing. As there is no binding and the neck does not look like birdseye on the back as you can see from the first folder and there is no natural binding that i can see eaither, but maybe it is still mahogany. It would be nice to know is all. Also if the neck is quatersawn or not as it looks close to it as can be seen on the first folder i shared. I also tried to show the wood grain as well in the first folder. Thanks for the help again. Wish we could get a full on build sheet somehow

Re: what kind of invader do i have?
The only non-standard item I see is that there is no natural wood top binding on the body. Birdseye maple neck was not standard with the 2009 (or later) Invader Plus Deluxe model, reference the 2010 Pricelist which Jos posted ininvader1993 wrote:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1uGPtm4ac7dS_OzZYl9e5sulV7AZSSNMI

this post (you reference previously): Re: Invader deluxe plus not popular?.
Regarding Quartersawn necks, they were not a neck option until 2011. And Build Specification Sheets were not available until 2011, too.
Here are a couple of photos of my two all Mahogany ASATs to provide examples of the grain patterns for Mahogany:
In reviewing your body photos and mine, I believe your body is Mahogany with a Flame Maple top and therefore your Invader is as Spencer has stated: a 2009 Invader Plus Deluxe.
Hope this helps.
