Where to find aftermarket parts? Need HSS loaded pickguard.

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Where to find aftermarket parts? Need HSS loaded pickguard.

Post by Lkdog »

I am picking up a used USA Legacy that is SSS.
Looking to find a loaded HSS pickguard.

Unlike Fender Strats in which there are plentiful supplies of aftermarket parts- there is not much for G&L that I can find on Ebay or the guitar forums.
Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks.

I don't know where you can buy a loaded pickguard, but you can buy the pickguard from Pickguard Heaven and you can buy the pickups and electronics from the G&L store (glguitars.com).

Also regarding just the pickguard, try this https://www.pickguardplanet.com/gl-pickguards/ place. The say they used to be the supplier for G&L. They're not loaded though, but as noted, you should be able to to get pickups from G&L or easy assembly electronics from GuitarFetish.

Thanks for info.

So let me make sure I am thinking about this correctly.

I will already have the Legacy SSS loaded pickguard on the guitar I am buying so will have the following:

Middle and Neck pickups.
The 5 way switch.
Volume, Treble and Bass pots.

So I will need:

1) An HSS pickguard with mini-toggle hole,
2) A Seymour Duncan TB4 humbucker pickup that splits.
3) A mini-toggle switch

Questions:

Do I need any different pots or the ones that come with the SSS factory configuration still OK to use?

I do have this ON/NONE/ON mini toggle laying around in my parts drawer. Will this work for splitting the SD TB4 humbucker??

Anything I missing?? I guess I could do this pretty cheap if I want.

Before going to that much trouble, have you thought about a stacked or dual blade humbucker such as https://g-l-online-store.myshopify.com/ ... ng-pickups or the Bill Lawrence version, which is cheaper (http://www.wildepickups.com/Wilde_Bill_ ... lades.html)? I would think they would fit in your existing pickguard.

Yeah,I have looked at pickups like that and others that would be a drop in fit in a single coil slot.
They don't sound quite the same to me.
