This guitar is wired with 1940's/50's style Esquire wiring.
Position 1 is just the pickup and volume control.
Position 2 introduces the tone circuit.
Position 3 is a different value cap with no sweep knob, so just rolled all the way off full filter.
Think of it as a very early "Rhythm/Lead" circuit. A way to get the sounds of a neck pickup on a single pickup guitar. This is old-school Leo all the way.
