Ben Esparza's 1980 L-1000
Here's Ben Esparza's 1980 L-1000 pictured in its original case. Ben says: "Serial number B002037. The neck date is Nov. 21, 1980, and the body date is Oct. 24, 1980. It has an ash body with clear blue finish that has aged to a blue/green hue is is very similar to the Music Man Translucent Teal finish. The capped fingerboard is ebony and the maple on the neck has ambered very nicely. There is some oxidation from perspiration on the bridge, but it is minimal and polishes up very nicely. The chrome plating on the plastic knobs has peeled in some places, but they still look nice. It is completely original, including the nut, which still has the finish on it. It is a dream to play and, in my opinion, is the most versatile one pickup passive bass there is. The sound, tones, and vibe are awesome. I am very fortunate to have stumbled across this bass purely by accident at a pawn shop."
