Brad W. Traweek's 1983 Nighthawk (Clear Blue)

This is a closeup of my 1983 Nighthawk - serial number G014777, and with a July '83 neck date and June '83 body date. Notice the clear blue finish, maple fretboard, and ash body - all of these features are very unusual for the Nighthawk, and together they make for a very stunning instrument. Several years ago Dale Hyatt scanned the G&L production logs and made a tabulation of the Nighthawk finish figures for Paul Bechtoldt; at that time he reported that only two blue Nighthawks were made.

The Nighthawks and Skyhawks are, IMHO, G&L's best overall Str*t-style guitars - when paired with something like an old Fender amp, look out, 'cause tone heaven awaits!! ;-) Dale Hyatt provided Vintage Guitar columnist Paul Bechtoldt with some finish figures on the Nighthawks - and Dale's figures indicate that just two blue Nighthawks were made.

The Nighthawk is a "rarebird"; for more information on this model, check out the Registry section on this page.
