Brad W. Traweek's 1999 GbL_LE Prototype #1

Our original specifications for the 1999 www.guitarsbyleo.com Limited Edition had called for a natural mahogany body and a gun-oiled neck; however, G&L's Dave McLaren had concerns that the hues of the neck and body as specified would not complement each other. Instead, Dave suggested that we make up two prototypes as "finish testers". Both of these guitars were also fully functional, though they lacked the headstock sticker and neck plate that distinguish the production models.

On the first prototype (pictured here), we tried going with a standard natural mahogany body, with a clear glossy neck. This is the finish combination on which the production instruments are based. This guitar is currently owned by myself (Brad Traweek).
