Is this the same G&L Interceptor in the ad slick for the 1986 G&L Interceptor X Body? You tell me. I had no idea how rare this guitar was or I would likely have never taken it out to gig with it. So I'm kind of glad I didn't know. As you can tell

Is this the same G&L Interceptor in the ad slick for the 1986 G&L Interceptor X Body? You tell me. I had no idea how rare this guitar was or I would likely have never taken it out to gig with it. So I'm kind of glad I didn't know. As you can tell by the pics, it's been out there on the front lines for over 20 years, and doing a fantastic job. Guitars are made to be PLAYED. I did have a split rail humbucker installed many years ago (still have the original single coil), and a different lock nut, but that's pretty much the only modifications. This guitar has a ton of mojo and came my way like it was meant to belong to me. It was hanging in a music store for several weeks at the starting price of $1,200.99. They eventually dropped the price to $999.99, and since I had an account with this store and could get anything for 10% down, I decided to buy it. You can imagine my dismay when I went to the store and it was gone! The sales rep told me that some kid came in with his grandfather and his grandfathers credit card, and out the door it went. Here's where the story gets a bit freaky. About 4 months later a local singer that I knew came to my place wanting to buy an amplifier. Trying to trade TVs, stereo equipment, etc. that I had no interest in. Then he said his buddy (obviously "the kid") had a relatively new guitar that they could trade, but I would have to throw in a guitar with the amp. I had a beat up SG that a former girlfriend had bought me, so I told him I could trade that. Then he started describing the guitar that his buddy had. I'm thinking "no way"! He brings it over for me to take a look at, and lo and behold, it's the Interceptor. I had to bite my tounge to keep a straight face. So ideed, I made the trade, even, no boot. I had $100.00 invested in the amp, and the SG didn't cost me a dime. So I got my Interceptor for what would have been the down payment at the music store. Do you love it? A few years later this same guitar is stolen from a club that I was playing at, and of course no one knew anything. I was sure I'd never see it again. Again several months went by, and the guitar I was currently playing needed a pro set up badly. I kept putting it off till I couldn't put it off any longer. Took it to a shop do have it gone over, and while the tech had my guitar on the rack, I started looking through their selection of used instruments, and guess what I found there. That's right, the Interceptor! (How often does that happen?!)The tech said it had just came in a few days earlier. I knew it was mine by the lock nut that I had installed. I told the tech that it belonged to me and was stolen, should I call the police? NO! They didn't want that kind of reputation (can't blame them) he called the shop owner, and he said give them a couple of days and I could have my guitar back. Well I've had it in semi-retirement for the last few years, but every now and then I do take it out to play. Like I said, that's what they're made for.
