Nick Witthaus' 1991 ASAT
Here's a great shot of Nick Witthaus' one-off 1991 ASAT. Nick's father, Rick, says: "Here's what I know about the guitar. The serial number and pots make it a '91. It was reportedly custom made for either Dale Hyatts son or George Fullertons son ( I can't remember which now-they both worked for G&L at various times) I think the guitar body is one of the original sparkle guitars made in the 80's. Paul B told they made about a dozen silver sparkle guitars, but half were returned to the factory for finish checking. I don't know if this one was a return or if the body had just been lying around for 5 or 6 six years before they assembled it. The flake in the guitar is awesome. You can't even tell its sparkle till the light hits it. The flakes are the size of grains of sand. The guitar also has chrome hardware (all the other old sparkles I've seen had black hardware) and the old style Asat thin style logo."
