According to Gerald, there were three guitars made for three different artists that incorporated these pickups (originally, all the guitars had 3 pickups). Due to Gerald’s playing style (fingerpicks), the middle pickup was in the way and he asked Leo if he could make some modification that would make the guitar better fit his playing style.
