Leo's last prototype4

“3/21/91 Proto 6 String Bass” not much else to note that G029213 is an unusual prototype concept and the very last instrument Leo Fender worked on or even touched before he went home and passed away. Like a typical Leo guitar, the scale length is 25.5 inches but tuning is an octave deeper, with bigger strings, a bigger bridge and bigger tuners custom made by Bob Sperzel of Sperzel Guitar Tuners. The pickups are MFD coils paired up in original S•500 covers, which should offer switching potential but only a 5-way appears. No one knew for sure where Leo was going with this, but maybe it’s time I asked some talented musicians to show us where this truly unique instrument takes them
