RIP Pinetop Perkins

Tue Mar 22, 2011 3:06 pm

Saw this last night and unfortunately one of the last, if not the last blues and boogie piano players has left us. Pinetop played with the greats and I had the chance to see him in 1994, and at 80 he was a fantastic player and performer. Thems were my smoking days and when I saw him before the show and asked for a light (he was smoking) he gave me his lighter, which I stll have.

Here he is for those that don't know him. RIP Pinetop

That's a cool story Sam, and cool clips too. I haven't heard much of Pinetop's music but enjoyed seeing him interviewed by Clint Eastwood in those Scorsese blues documentaries. Thanks for posting.

RIP, Mr. Perkins.

That's really sad - I have some of his playing on some of my Muddy Waters albums. He was a really cool player.

RIP Pinetop and thanks for the great music.
