I've been collecting G&Ls for the past several years, and it's been a thoroughly enjoyable experience; I've had tremendous fun with this hobby and have met many wonderful people along the way!  I started off without a great deal of focus, but as I got more into the hobby I soon realized that what most excited me most in terms of collecting were the super-rare, hard-to-find guitars - and, indeed, those are the instruments for which I searched on a near-daily basis over the past several years.

Some of you may know that I recently resigned from the webmaster position at www.guitarsbyleo.com - I had had my fun with the site and it was time to move on.  Likewise, it's now time for me to release a large number of guitars "back into the wild", so to speak, and let someone else enjoy them.

Below I have included a complete listing of the instruments up for auction.  I would encourage you to study each item carefully, as just about every instrument included in this sale is noteworthy in some way!!  You'll probably want to set your browser window to maximum size in order to make the instrument listing a bit easier to follow.  Also, if a camera icon is displayed, you can click on it to view a subpage with photos and more information. (The subpages and photos are borrowed from www.guitarsbyleo.com and GGJaguar's Guitarium and Ampeteria.)

And now for the fine print:

The full instrument listing is included below; if you're serious about bidding and have any further questions about any of the instruments, please feel free to drop me a line at gnlguitars@yahoo.com. I'm more than happy to shoot additional instrument photos for serious bidders as well (within reason) - let me know what you need to see and I can snap a few quick pics and e-mail them to you.

Good luck!! I'll be on the edge of my seat on this one as you can imagine. This could either mark the end of an era for me, or not... We shall see. ;-)

2. (None) ASAT Classic     Cherry Sunburst Maple Ash Hardtail Factory one-off. Features a very attractive quilted maple cap, and a clear pickguard. This guitar is believed to be the very first non-Invader G&L to feature a 4-bolt neck. Near Mint OHSC
3. CLF12257 ASAT Classic Semihollow MAY 10, 1999 APR 30, 1999 Natural Maple Mahogany Hardtail Special one-off made by G&L with a MAHOGANY body. Gloss neck, pearloid pickguard. Mint OHSC
4. GO26794 ASAT III MAY 23, 1990 SEP 28, 1988 Blonde Maple Ash Hardtail One of approximately 150 pre-BBE ASAT IIIs. EC+ OHSC
5. CLF19384 ASAT Semihollow     Sunburst Rosewood Ash Hardtail Thrown in as a "freebie" - I didn't include this one when calculating my reserve price. Tort-shell pickguard. Guitar is brand new, never played. Mint OHSC
6. G025949 ASAT Sig SEP 20, 1989 JAN 11, 1988 Natural Rosewood Ash Fine Tuner, Pat # Displayed at the 1990 NAMM Show. "Field prototype" for the Signature series body style. Also features the rare Leo Fender Fine Tuner Vibrato. Near Mint OHSC
7. BC00858 Broadcaster     Black Maple Maple Kahler Thought to be one of only 7 Broadcasters to feature a maple fretboard and Kahler tremolo. Near Mint OHSC
8. G014854 Cavalier     Black Maple Ash Standard Dual Fulcrum Nonoriginal nut Good HSC
9. G014869 Cavalier SEP ??, 1983 OCT 14, 1983 Clear Red Ebony Ash Standard Dual Fulcrum   VG+ OHSC
10. G014987 Cavalier MAR 2, 1984 AUG 22, 1983 Black Ebony Ash Standard Dual Fulcrum This guitar features a factory preamp, a feature which is believed to be quite uncommon on this model. Case is not original to this guitar but it is an early-80s G&L case. Missing tremolo arm. Fair HSC
11. G015295 Cavalier     Clear Red Ebony Ash Standard Dual Fulcrum Guitar pictured is a "cosmetic twin" and not the actual guitar for sale. EC+ OHSC
12. G038868 Comanche V Sig MAR 10, 1991 MAR 6, 1991 Cherry Sunburst Rosewood Ash   Production figures on these are unknown but they are thought to be quite uncommon. This one has a #2 neck and a sickle headstock Mint OHSC
13. G027824 Comanche VI Sig     Natural Ebony Ash   Last I heard it was still believed that well under 100 Comanche VIs were made in all. This one is showroom-fresh, never played - I purchased it directly off of a (protected) store display. Sadly, the tremolo arm is missing. Guitar in photo is not the same guitar, nor is it even the same finish - I just included it to give you an idea of how much switchery these things have. ;-) Mint OHSC
14. 8 Commemorative Guitar     Cherry Sunburst Maple Ash   About 350 of these were made in all - note that this example has a single-digit serial number! I have a copy of the first page of the Commemorative production logs which shows the entry for this guitar. As indicated there, it has a #2 maple neck and a 10-24-91 completion date. The photo is not of this guitar but is a scan of an ad slick just to give a feel for what the model looks like - stunning, to be sure! Mint OHSC
15. G000945 F-100     Candy Lemon Ebony Ash Standard Dual Fulcrum This guitar's finish is noteworthy for its extreme rarity. Vintage Guitar columnist Paul Bechtoldt at one time indicated that as few as five guitars may have made it out the door with the candy lemon finish, though the latest figure I heard was that it may have been more in the neighborhood of ten. This guitar is in minty-fresh condition and features a really attractive flame maple neck. Mint OHSC
16. G001519 F-100     Clear Red Maple     Left-handed. 9-17-81 completion date. This is believed to be the second left-handed G&L ever made. The case is not original to this guitar but it is an early-80s G&L item. Bridge pickup cavity has a noticeable "routing ring" around it where someone must have done some pickup experimentation in the past (the pickup is the original, so whatever mod that was done has apparently been reversed). Guitar's condition would be a solid "VG" if not for this. Good HSC
17. G004688 F-100     Natural Ebony Mahogany Hardtail It is believed that 10% or less of F-100s featured hardtail bridges. This particular example is one of the nicest-looking and nicest-playing F-100s I've ever seen (the other one being the candy lemon example which is also in this auction ;-) ). It's in fabulous condition. Near Mint OHSC
18. GF0233 Fullerton     Sunburst Rosewood Alder   The pickguard on this guitar has been personally hand-signed by George Fullerton. Alder body, 3-bolt _oval_ neck. Early Fullertons had a hard vee neck, then G&L switched to oval necks on these for a short time in 1995 before finally settling on a soft vee. Mint OHSC
19. G009427 G-200     Sunburst Ebony Mahogany Hardtail 209 G-200s exist. Of those 209, it is believed that only the last 12 to 20 feature rear-loaded controls. This example is one of them! Guitar in photo is a "cosmetic twin" and not the actual guitar for sale. Near Mint Gig bag
20. G009634 G-200     Natural Ebony Mahogany Hardtail As mentioned above, only 209 G-200s exist. This is a very nice example of the more common variety (relatively speaking ;-) ) which features "front-loaded" controls. Guitar in photo is a "cosmetic twin" and not the actual guitar for sale. EC+ OHSC
21. G015514 Interceptor     White Ebony     This is a really nice and interesting "transitional" example which has features of both the first- and second-style X-body Interceptors. It has a first-style body, but it has rear-loaded controls, 2 Schaller humbuckers, and a Kahler tremolo (all second-style features). Approximately 70 first-style X-bodies were made, and no more than 12 second-style X-bodies were made. It's not known how many "transitional" examples like this exist. I've not seen another like it personally. Mint OHSC
22. G018249 Interceptor     Clear Red/Black Ebony Maple Kahler This is a really nice example of the exceedingly rare second-style X-body Interceptor; it is believed that only 8 to 12 of these were ever made! Near Mint OHSC
23. G034168 Interceptor JUL 20, 1992 APR 5, 1988 Sparkle Purple Rosewood Ash Fine Tuner, Pat Pend Strat-style, #1 neck, sc-sc-hum, Fine Tuner Vibrato (Pat Pend), sickle headstock. This Interceptor is an "employee" guitar that was made with leftover parts after regular production had ceased. Mint OHSC
24. G018216 Invader JAN 24, 1987 MAR ??, 1987 Red Ebony Ash Kahler # 3 neck, Kahler Near Mint OHSC
25. G043406 John Jorgenson Sig ASAT     Silver Flake Rosewood   Hardtail Approximately 190 Jorgenson Sig ASATs exist; since this is a relatively recent model they're still pretty easy to find... but they won't be for long! ;-) The guitar pictured is a "cosmetic twin" and not the actual guitar for sale. Near Mint OHSC
26. B018723 L-5000     Bahama Blue Rosewood     Less than 40 of these were made prior to 1991 (this is a 1990 example). Near Mint OHSC
27. G037548 Legacy Classic     Sparkle Black Maple     This guitar is a prototype for a model that was never produced. It features a Wilkerson vibrato, vintage-style tuning machines, and cream-colored pickguard. Also has a birdseye satin-finish neck and a graphite nut. Near Mint OHSC
28. B018751 Lynx Bass SEP 26, 1988 JUN 25, 1988 Red Rosewood   Hardtail New - unplayed. Mint OHSC
29. G015211 Nighthawk     Black Ebony     Only 269 Nighthawks were made in all. This is without a doubt the nicest example I've ever seen - only a tiny finish nick prevents it from being minty-mint. Even have the original shipping box for this one. Near Mint OHSC
30. G017338 Rampage     Yellow Ebony   Kahler Black hardware; has numerous hairline finish cracks running the width of the body, otherwise in good shape. No tremolo arm. VG None
31. G000519 S-500     Natural Maple Ash Standard Dual Fulcrum Unusual super-low serial number (the first production G&L had a serial number of G000518 - not that this really means anything since G&L's serial numbers are semi-random in nature, but it's still kinda fun to think about! ;-) ). This is a player's grade instrument all the way: refretted, nonoriginal pots and knobs. Good OHSC
32. G009979 S-500 FEB ??, 1982 FEB ??, 1982 Natural Maple Mahogany   Not only is this guitar in unplayed, showroom-fresh condition, but it's also the earliest S-500 I'm aware of. Neck and body dates both pre-date the first day of regular S-500 production which is believed to have occurred in early March, 1982. Mint OHSC
33. G010035 S-500     White Ebony Mahogany Standard Dual Fulcrum Extremely nice, early example. Mahogany body, flat black hardware. Guitar in photo is a "cosmetic twin" and not the actual guitar for sale. Near Mint OHSC
34. G015581 S-500 JAN 13, 1984 MAR 23, 1983 Natural Ebony Ash   This guitar is in really nice shape and was custom-ordered with a black headstock. Looks pretty cool! 2-7-84 assembly date. Near Mint OHSC
35. G027592 S-500 Sig JAN 2, 1991 DEC 14, 1990 Natural Rosewood Ash Standard Dual Fulcrum This guitar was made for display at the 1991 Winter NAMM show. Has uncommon "vibrato lock". Second neck date: DEC 21, 1990. Has a #2 neck. Mint OHSC
36. G008420 SC-1 DEC 9, 1982 NOV 8, 1982 Black Maple   Standard Dual Fulcrum About 250 SC-1s were made in all, and most were hardtails. Only a fraction of them feature the dual fulcrum vibrato. This guitar unfortunately has a good-sized crack in the neck heel area; currently stable but might need some work in the near future. Also missing its tremolo arm. Good Gig bag
37. G012674 SC-1 MAR 5, 1983 DEC 30, 1982 Black Maple   Standard Dual Fulcrum About 250 SC-1s were made in all, and most were hardtails. Only a fraction of them feature the dual fulcrum vibrato - and this is a really nice example that does. EC+ OHSC
38. G014597 SC-1     White Maple   Hardtail As stated above, about 250 SC-1s were made in all. This guitar is the more common hardtail variety. Guitar in photo is a cosmetic "twin" and not the actual guitar for sale. EC OHSC
39. G021309 SC-3 JUN 3, 1987 JUN 11, 1987 Yellow Ebony     Factory Wilkerson roller nut, 2nd style body. Mint OHSC
40. G016274 Superhawk JUL 10, 1984   Black Ebony   Kahler Very nice, early example, from the first month of Superhawk production. EC- OHSC

That's it - 40 instruments in all. Good luck!!
