Can a G&L BB no F hole be semihollow?

Post by brazosguitar »

I bought a G&L BB beautiful. No f hole. They advertised it as semihollow. I assumed they didn't know what they even had as they weren't very knowledgeable.

I saw others advertise same thing (semihollow it it was a BB no F hole no obvious relief), but I think it's hard to believe... is there any chance my solid looking BB no F hole is semihollow and routed inside somehow?

If it was semi-hollow, wouldn't it be noticeably lighter?

As you said, there are others advertised this way, such as this https://reverb.com/item/2245048-g-l-asa ... emi-hollow one, but I would think it must be a mistake. If you see the body type listed below, it just says swamp ash, rather than semi-hollow swamp ash, as is described on the G&L site http://www.glguitars.com/instruments/US ... /index.asp.

Sorry for the multiple replies, but I also just saw this http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/FORUM/viewt ... 36&t=14325 so maybe it is possible, but now I'm confused.

IIRC, louis (a former member) had a semi-hollow no f-hole BB for a while.

I have a 2012 BB semi-hollow ash body with no fhole.
Weighs in at just under 7lbs.

Yes, from G&L facebook page, and I must say it's stunning!

I believe f hole delete is an option on all USA G&L semi hollows.

Yes, they make the semi hollow guitars with and without the f hole. Knock or tap on the guitar. You should be able to tell if it is solid or hollow on the inside.

I also found this http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/FORUM/viewt ... 36&t=14394 page in the forum, which discusses this issue.

I have a few semi-hollow no "F" hole. A very nice option if you ask me.

Here's my ASAT Z3 Semi Hollow no F Hole, (with Will Ray bridge pup) one of my faves

Sweet Z-3 Sam. And yes, plenty of no F-Hole semi hollow models out there. No mistake if true on the description.

Yes, all standard Semi-Hollow models can be selected with or without the F-hole. See: February 1, 2017-present G&L U.S. Specifications and Options.
