Serial number help please

I think this is a pre BBL guitar , can anyone help me please. I am trying to find out the year. This is the SERIAL NO. G039295

All you can tell for sure from a GXXXXXX serial number is that the guitar was built prior to 1998. It's not too hard to nail down an approximate age from the features. Can you post a couple of pics (including the headstock), or at least give a detailed description? Some of us can probably take it from there.
