I would definitely try that. We have Rock Band at our house, and I'm not ashamed to admit I like it. My son is pretty good at it, but I wish he'd play the damned real guitar as much.

I tried guitar hero once, I quit when I couldn't play songs I can play on a guitar on a 6 button plastic dinky toy with no strings
