Interesting that they chose to forego the PTB system

This is a great take on the old Custom Creation caramel models.
The smoky aspect and roasted neck look “Smokin”!

Here is a copy of the Specification Sheet:SUaPYG wrote:Interesting that they chose to forego the PTB system
James said this about the build:
It's an HSH pickup configuration with 1 volume and 1 tone.
I used a super 5-way switch so I can get the humbuckers to autosplit in positions 2 and 4,
in series with the S500 pickup in the center. Nice and quacky but with no hum.

Interesting that they used the body sculpting from the Climax.

Re: G&L Custom Shop Legacy HSH in Smoked Caramel...
I chose a more modern wiring style for this particular build. To be honest, the PTB system isn't really something I'm personally super married to myself, so I could take it or leave it. This instrument is utilizing a super-5-way switch so it can auto-split the humbuckers in positions 2 and 4, and run them in series with the middle single-coil to give it a nice jangly tone. I felt like a basic 1-volume, 1-tone setup for the other controls was sufficient here.SUaPYG wrote:Interesting that they chose to forego the PTB system

Re: G&L Custom Shop Legacy HSH in Smoked Caramel...
The body contouring here wasn't technically inspired by any other G&L instruments. It's just a more modern way to give upper register access a bit more comfort, something that's been done by dozens of builders and companies over the last couple decades, and it's something I was doing on my own builds over the last 15 years before coming to G&L. Johnny and Dave McLaren both mentioned they liked the look and feel of those contours, and so I chose to do that on this instrument as an example so we could make it an option on custom shop orders moving forward.Challenger wrote:Interesting that they used the body sculpting from the Climax.
