L-1000 necks on L-2000 body??
My friend has a 1980 L-2000 body bass with a fretless L-1000 neck. He bought the bass new from the dealer in 1980. How is this even possible?

The L-1000 was G&L's first model, shortly thereafter followed by the L-2000. Both were available as fretless basses, at least according to the September 1980 price list. More importantly, but for the model decal, both had identical necks. So this seems more an issue with what was on the available fretless neck when the instrument was assembled. Definitely possible.
However, the neck should still be without the G&L teat. Otherwise, it is clear is was a post-1983 replacement.
