Introduction Hi, looking for another S500

Hi everyone.

Old G&L user and looking for another.
I bought an S500 years ago. 96-98, I forget when. It has 3 bolts.

The main reason for joining is to get input on my next S-500.
From one of my favorite movies "Patton" comes the phase 'Pearl is for pimps'. :P
Just from the movie alone, I can never own a 30th anni. guitar.
I love the idea of getting a ebony fretboard, and that new DFS tremolo. But pearl white!?! :shocked003:
Yuck!

I saw on another thread, if you bug the people at G&L enough they might get you an ebony fretboard. That is what I want, with locking tuners.

Well, here she is.

Nice guitar meowmix. I'll take SH S500 with an ebony FB- no pearl please. :alright:

Those DFS vib are interesting. I can see how it would improve sustain, but I wonder how they effect the overall tone quality?

I have questions too, but it won't be answered until the product is out on the street and being used.
Has any one done research on the metals in question?
1018 cold-rolled steel is Iron + .18% Carbon. The PSI is 53,700. It is also the most common cold-rolled steel available.
See here http://www.onlinemetals.com/steelguide.cfm
Was the switch made for costs? I don't know much about the hardened steel to make the comparison.

People have their 30th anni guitars, I wish they would review it.
