Howdy from Southern California!

Hello Everybody, my name is Tim. I was close friends with Forrest, from his CBS stint through his time at Musicman. I worked within a few miles of MusicMan, very close to Leo's G&L facility. Forrest told me I was one of the few people Leo ever gave a personal tour of G&L to! :D I started playing in 1968, and played semi-professionally (low level gigs like the Red Onion Circuit, Tomorrowland Terrace) and several country and contemporary christian groups, until I got married in 1985. Fast Forward to 1995 when I quit playing altogether, divorced, and moved to the San Fernando Valley to work in the Studio packaging industry. I retired in 2016. I just started playing again in 2019 (as therapy while recovering from a stroke). Boy, things have changed since 1995!!! I have since purchased a D'Angelico, a Tribute ASAT, a MIM Deluxe Stratocaster, and I special ordered a soon to be sold Tribute Comanche, for a former band member. I have one question? When did "metal" get so popular? On YouTube there are literally 100's of Hard Metal Rock guys, and very few (in comparison) jazz, pop, country, and fusion guys? Anyway, nice to meet you! Please, be kind in your responses (I've heard you guys can be kind of tough on new posters...) loll

Welcome to the forum and welcome back to guitar playing. That's a cool story about Leo. I've been using this forum for a few years and don't think I have ever seen anyone be "tough" other users. The moderator, Craig, is a particularly welcoming and helpful fellow. Have fun.

Hey Old-Player welcome to the cul... club! :greet:

Very cool history, I’m sure you could share many stories with us other “old” guys and younger crowd as well. I’m with you on the metal popularity. While I do like some metal, but lean to jam “Dead” and “Phish”, and country these days. I do have some hope for jazz. My son just graduated and got a music scholarship and will be playing in the jazz band as well as two other school bands. (insert proud dad)

Hope your rehabilitation is going well and guitar playing is increasing.

Share pictures of your guitars, we love to see the “porn” round here. :alright:
