Newbie from the North

Hi my name is Rob and I live in Chelsea, Quebec, just north of Canada's capital city.......OTTAWA! I am turning 62 on Feb 9 and I just bought my first guitar, a beautiful G&L JB-2 bass. Against all recommendations, I bought it because I liked the look of it-gorgeous honey-coloured, flamed maple top. Also, I did a lot of research and could see the obvious craftsmanship in G&L, American-made guitars. I'm a big Chris Squire fan but couldn't afford a Rickenbacker 4001, so I picked this up instead, from a guy on Montreal for $950 CDN. It's in pristine condition and sounds lovely so I think I got a pretty good deal. Anyway, just got an amp and found a cozy spot in the man cave to learn how to play it. Wish me luck!

Hi Rainbird! :greet:

Welcome and congratulations on your new JB-2 bass, we gotta see pictures to believe it's real. Be sure to register it in the G&L registry.

Don't be shy, jump in often. Lots of knowledgeable folks here to answer questions and help keep you on course. Play often, play loud and oh yea, play often. :alright:

Great, thanks guys. Here are some pics https://photos.app.goo.gl/CxKBobBmoBtAZpDS7. I have registered the guitar and am trying to figure out its vintage. Judging from the registry, I figure it was built in 2002. I'll wait until I replace the strings before I take off the neck to look for a stamp.

That's a gorgeous maple top on your bass! Sure looks like a great bass to play.
