Hello from London

Recently acquired this 2014 Tribute AC Bluesboy SH - my 1st G&L, blonde w rosewood fretboard (sorry the pic's so blurry).

I bought it online, 2nd-hand with a no-obligation 14-day option to return. It's hardly been out of my hands since. I'd been looking at this model for some time, so when this one came up at a very reasonable price, I pulled the trigger. I'm delighted with it. Sound, looks, weight - and the neck is to die for. It's hardly been out of my hands since it arrived.

The action had been set really low (so much so that the low E was bouncing off the fretboard!), so I set to fettling (string heights, intonation, p/up heights etc) which is how I arrived here. A wealth of information and advice! Thanks for having me.

I have two tributes - a Comanche and an ASAT special, and I am constantly impressed by how well made they are, and how great they play and sound, once set up and dialed in. This site is a real treasure trove full of good info, and helpful and fun people.

Welcome and congratulations on yer new Bluesboy, smoking guitar. Glad to hear it is delivering beyond expectations. After this one you will see G&L guitars can multiply like rabbits, G&L is putting out some incredible guitars at sweet value.

I just got back from England last Sunday from vacation. My wife is from there so we visited relatives in Cleethorpes and Norfolk but started in London and caught the Stone Free Festival at the O2 Arena with Buckcherry, Megadeth and Scorpions with my son. He is a big Megadeth fan, post on this show soon to come. Weather was fantastic btw.

Welcome redpaul1! My first G&L was a Tribute ASAT Special Deluxe. It gave me the G&L bug. They certainly are a great value. Look forward to hearing more from you. As Sam said, welcome to the cult!

Thanks for the welcome messages, guys. I know Norfolk fairly well, but Cleethorpes is terra incognita for me :-)
Bluesboy was guitar #7 for me (2 * Fender {Strat, Tele}, 2* Epiphone {Casino, Dot-335} 1* Ion iGP03C 'Strat' {modded with a fully-loaded AmStd Fender scratchplate}, 1 * "Nevada" by EKO vintage [1969!] jumbo steel-string acoustic), so I'm hoping he completes my collection rather than triggering another rash of GAS (G&LAS)!

Mind you, that said, I'm still learning so much about what this BB can do, I should imagine it'll be a while before I start trawling through guitar brochures again!!

Glad to hear yer Bluesboy is exceeding expectations.

Cleethorpes is near the old fishing town of Grimsby. More important, Cleethorpes is home to the Greenwich Meridian Line, established in 1884 as the line of zero longitude . See information on sign below.

I do know where Cleethorpes is, and I'm sure it's very nice; but even it's best friends wouldn't deny that it's not exactly a tourist destination, which is what I was getting at. But those photos (ty, btw) might make me take a detour any time I'm in North Lincolnshire. :-)
Incidentally, on the subject of meridian lines ("What good are Mercator's North Poles & Equators / Tropic zones and Meridian Lines?" / So the Bellman would cry, and the crew woul reply / "They are merely conventional signs!" - Lewis Carroll 'The Hunting of the Snark'), if you ever come across 'The Nautical Chart' by Arturo Perez-Reverte, do check it out. It's a wonderful contemporary tale of a quest for buried treasure, the solution to which turns out to be finding the 'correct' meridian line.

Very much agree not the tourist attraction Interesting at least, but not as much as yer Bluesboy. What amp(s) are you running through? If more than one any preference?
