hey, I'm stormfingers, I live in Seattle
I'm a musician and an engineer (electronic/audio/video guy and build/fix lots of gear)
I'm now an owner of an early S-500 prototype/test mule/employee guitar? not sure of provenance, but it's sure a nice player
unique feature on this guitar is the MusicMan neck w/ebony board, 7.5" radius, stamped "S-500 II"
lots of other Fender guitars and basses in the stable, among other instruments
my band Cephalopod plays a monthly improvised funk-hybrid gig - going on 6 years - 2nd Sundays at the Seamonster Lounge
here's a Soundcloud link of a blues jam from 2012:

cheers!

Welcome!

I would love to see some picks of that guitar. It sounds pretty interesting.

Hi Stormfingers,

Welcome and yes, nice track. Will look for the guitar pics.

Come back often and jump in, as well as share more clips.

don't know why the pictures didn't resize and show up in the post above, but the links to IMGUR work if you right-click on the word "image"

anyone here have any idea of the provenance on this guitar? figured I'll never find an original square bobbin, so I ordered a new MFD pickup from G&L for the bridge

my Cephalopod project is really a jam band - totally improvised, no set-lists, no rehearsals, no songs - and I change up players every month

taking this (new to me) G&L out for a spin tomorrow (Sunday) night at Seamonster Lounge if any of the Seattle area folks want to stop in

here's another Cephalopod track, something "jammier" (or maybe a little spacier?) from earlier this year:

imgur seems to make a new url each time a picture is beckoned,... bastads!
You can always start start a folder in the user section of the gallery.

Definitely an early S-500, hope to hear it sometime soon...keep up the gig alerts

The images are not working because you put the url of the page in instead of the url of the image itself. If you put an "i." at the beginning and a ".jpg" at the end they will work.

So instead of
Code:

use
Code:
[timage="667,500"]http://i.imgur.com/xiNHrmN.jpg[/timage]

here's a live track from Sunday, first night I gigged the '82 S-500... stayed on position 2 (neck/middle) for most of the song, except maybe a quick neck-only solo
players include me, Thaddeus Turner (playing a Strat), Mark Mattrey (electric bass), Joe Doria (Hammond), Derniel Washington (drums), Petro Krysa (electric violin)

it's a fairly long jam; enjoy!
