GbL History & G&LDP/G&L Knowledgebase/Marketplace Guidelines

Tue Aug 07, 2012 11:58 am

Welcome to the G&L® Discussion Page Forum (aka G&L Forum) (or G&LDP for short), an exclusive feature of the
web's first and only official G&L enthusiasts website, www.guitarsbyleo.com (or GbL for short)!!
This site is dedicated to the innovative guitars and basses that Leo Fender† and his long-time associate,
George Fullerton, created during the last decade of Leo's career and lifetime, and to the G&L tradition
of innovation and hand craftsmanship that continues in the G&L lineup today. The G&LDP Forum is your meeting
place to discuss all things related to G&L products. G&L guitars, basses, amps, and pedals, and gear we run them through are all fair game!
To see the various sub-forums which the G&LDP Forum consists of, click here: G&LDP.
All of the sub-forums have Forum rules and they are located at the top of the sub-forum, where it says "Please click here to view the forum rules",
so please read them prior to posting. And, if you want to talk about non-musical topics, go to the G&LDP's Off Topic sub-forum.

The G&L Knowledgebase Forum provides answers to many questions you may have about G&L products and
if you don't find the answer, you can post your question in one of the sub-forums. We or other members will try to provide
the answers you seek. To see the various sub-forums which the G&L Knowledgebase Forum consists of, check here: G&L Knowledgebase.

Note: The G&LDP, G&L Knowledgebase, and Marketplace Forum software requires a separate registration from
the GbL registration. You will not be able to use your GbL login to post on the three Forums. Here is the Forum registration link.
You only need to register one time, as the login you create will be used for all three Forums.
We suggest you use the same password which you use for the GbL, so that you only need to remember one password.
Note that the ampersand character ('&') is not an allowable password character for the GbL password.
As a means of preventing spambots, we ask a question during the registration/first login. The question will be easy for a human
to answer and hopefully impossible or at least difficult for a spambot to answer. Also, if a member fails to login successfully
after three attempts, the member will be asked this question on their next attempt.

This is version 2.0 of the G&LDP and debuted on March 1, 2010.

Background: This site was originally created by Brad W. Traweek. It is a continuation of his original
G&L tribute page developed in mid-1997 while he was a student at the University of Arizona, and its structure,
features and content have continually improved under his creativity and technical expertise since its inception.
The G&LDP discussion forum on the site originally debuted on March 4th, 1998. On October 16, 2000,
this site went under the stewardship of G&L's own Dave McLaren.

Rules: We have rules which are simple and will be enforced to maintain a positive atmosphere. Participants
are expected to treat others with respect, kindness, and consideration, including G&L and other manufacturers.
No discussion of politics, religion, sexual orientation, racial, or ethnic topics are allowed. Keep the content
and language at PG-13 level. Offending posts will be deleted, and the participant will be notified. Subsequent
posting to the G&LDP regarding a warning from the Admin will likely result in suspension or revocation of
posting privileges. If any member has an issue with another member's post(s), the member is encouraged to
contact the Admin either via EM or PM about the offending post(s).

Retail Prices: In keeping with G&L's own policy regarding publication of retail prices, please do NOT post
actual sale prices of new G&L/BBE instruments and products on this site. Example 1: "I found a new ASAT
for $699 - is this a good price?" Example 2: "How much did the '99 GbL_LE actually sell for?" Such posts will
be deleted or modified by the Admin. Posting prices on used instruments, is fine, just make it clear that
you are listing the price for a used instrument. If your post is not clear then the Admin will edit out the price.

Hijacking posts: Any posts which are off topic to the thread they are posted on, will be removed or moved
to an appropriate sub-forum, without notification to the hijacking poster.

Posting Photos: See Tutorial: Posting photos for details and examples.

Posting YouTube videos: See: Tutorial: Posting YouTube videos for details and examples.

Posting audio files: See: Tutorial: Posting audio files for details and examples.

For Sale / Wanted Items/Public Service Announcements: We hope that the guitarsbyleo.com site will be the first place
anyone who is interested in buying, selling, or trading a G&L will turn to. As such, we've set up a totally free Marketplace Forum.
"For Sale", "For Trade", "Wanted" ads and Public Service Announcements are not allowed on any of the G&LDP and G&L Knowledgebase Forums.
The reason we've adopted this policy is that we'd like to prevent ads from weighting down the G&LDP and
G&L Knowledgebase Forums. The added side benefit, of course, is that we hope that this policy will keep the
Marketplace forum thriving. Please review the Marketplace Guidelines, before posting there: New GbL Marketplace Guidelines.

If you have questions about navigation, posting, editing, searching, etc. on this board, check out the board FAQ.
If you don't find an answer there, or wish to comment, or make suggestions regarding any part of the GbL,
please let us know in the G&LDP's G&LDP forum and guitarsbyleo.com site Discussion sub-forum.

If this is your first time on the G&LDP forum, please read the Welcome! Read This First post and then post in the
Introductions sub-forum.

Welcome!
