Today: 19th anniversary of the death of Leo Fender

What did you folks do at that time?

I was off guitar playing, my son's first birthday exactly 3 month ahead. I think I didn't even notice Leo Fender died.

I was on vacation in Scotland with my folks (I was 13), it was announced on the BBC the morning after which put a downer on the day.
