I saw my first advert for Christmas

Well I saw my first advert for Christmas the other day and wanted to shoot myself in the face.....is it me or are the adverts coming sooner each year?

I also saw my first Christmas tree of the year in a department store as well.....

However, on the plus side - its the one time of the year i can talk the wife into buying me guitar gear.....and I have christmas as an excuse....

You're lucky. There have been Christmas trees in our stores in Australia for nearly a month now.

The Hobby Lobby here had tree's up a few weeks ago. Lowe's also pop's them up earlier and earlier each year.

This will be my first holiday season as a "guitarist", how are the black friday and holiday sales in regards to guitars and gear?

Bloody hell chaps......those are better than my observations...its not that i hate christmas - just the obtuse commercialisation of it.....

I complained to my wife about 3 weeks ago that there was Christmas stuff all over the shops already. She replied 'great, cos there's only X shopping weekends to Christmas so I'd better get moving'. She knew what number X was too, but I forget, being male an' all.

This was disturbing on a couple of fronts:

1) I can usually rely on my wife for moral support when it comes to denouncing the over-commercialisation of a Christmas.
2) she must have acquired a mental illness to know exactly how many shopping weekends till December 25. I think she's spending too much time chatting with the other mums outside the local primary school and flicking through junk mail flyers.
