OK, I'll go.

Today for lunch, I had a cold cut plate, salami, cheese, pickles, onions, tomato and some cole slaw. It was good! Washed it down with good old fashioned H2O.

G&L question:

Anything you are currently waiting for or thinking about getting? Me, the LE-2....I think about it every day and wait, oh so patiently. Then I think, ah, maybe I should cancel the order and save the money. Then I think, but the folks at G&L have something special up their sleeve for this one........... In other words, normal thought on waiting for a new guitar.

I saw on the ebay the other day, someone selling a guitar with a scalloped neck. I thought that would be interesting on the LE-2, but we know what the neck pics are so no scalloping. It would be cool to try one.

Has anyone tried a scalloped neck? What's it like.

NON G&L question:

How often do you get into a playing rut and what do you do to get out of it? I'm in such a rut again, too much going on, work, sports, etc that I have barely picked up the guitar, maybe for 15 minutes at a time....

Alf, I had leftover pizza from last evening. it was great!

I thought long about the LE-2. I am also a little surprised at the time it has taken but sourcing special parts can take time. Companies no longer stock parts like they used to and are using the JIT inventory concept. If I orede a guitar, it will be exactly as I would like. I prefer to wait and find one I can put my hands on. This happened to me just yesterday. I was at AGB and looked at a Baby Blue Fallout which was a special order by someone. It is sweet and I would love to have it. At the moment I don't need another. If it is still around early next year I will reconsider. As for waiting, it is now easier than it used to be. I waited about 8 to 10 weeks for the Asat Savannah Bass and it was a long wait but what I expected. I have also been looking at a Tribute L-2500 and it plays great, workmanship is awesome but I brought the scale and weighed it and I really prefer something in the 8 lb range. It was just over 10 lbs, pretty much normal for an L-2500. I wish I were younger for more reasons than one!

Musically, I have been in a rut forever. I still haven't left the 60's. That is why I love being in a cover band. I get too play the stuff I like over and over. I have also been a bit remiss on practicing recently but have been too busy. I will hit the Pro Tools next week again and get that project finished. Too much work, too little time. I barely had time to install the WR pickup yesterday but I did. Thanks for the LR-- Darwin

Lunch: I have not had anything to eat yet. I am home today and plan on having pancakes and real maple syrup with coffee for lunch.

Waiting: I am waiting for a special order but it isn't due for weeks.

Scalloped necks: Scalloped necks require a specific playing technique. It would be something like (yet very different) playing a fretless guitar. Neither would ever make it on my radar.

Ruts: Playing ruts are overcome by adding something new. I will find something I want to learn and focus on making it part of my vocabulary. Sometimes it takes more than one thing to add. It is like exercise or even drinking water when you are lethargic, from the outside it looks one way but as soon as you make the effort to sink your teeth into it you are almost instantly in a different place where everything looks and feels different, usually better than where you were with any reservations or doubts.

Scallops:
I like them with butter at my local seafood restaurant, but not on my guitar neck.

Mmm there is a local seafood restaurant that serves the best scalloped potatoes.

I have been a very, very good boy lately.... I say lately, because ( Thanks to Eric's PSA this past week ) I was following the silver metal flake bigsby.... Now i am waiting for it to be sent to me while i am on holidays with my family down in Florida!

I have had the same thoughts on the LE-2 also. But it is going to be something i know i will not regret... I do wish the updates on it were a little more frequent.

I often get in playing ruts, for me it is the times that i am on holidays that i don't play guitar for a week that really let me come back and see the guitar with some fresh perspective!

I don't have any guitars I'm waiting for, but plan on doing a bunch of pickup changes in the coming weeks. I have a Bill Lawrence pickup on order that I will install in my Bluesboy which should match the output of the neck pickup better than the one thats currently in it. I love that guitar, but I've found recently that the neck pickup is a bit too low to get the best out of it.

I hate playing ruts. I get out of them by picking an artist/band and learning a bunch of their songs, or by learning the words to songs I already know and sing them while playing. I reckon I have about 200 songs that I play between the bands I've played in but only know the words well enough to sing 10 of them!

I also had a shot on a Yngwie Malmsteen strat once and didn't really like the scalloped fingerboard at all.

I hardly can't wait for the LE 2 to come in !! ..... No refund for me I want it bad !! ...... whats killing me even more though is my Buck Owens , supposed to be in the paint shop , I know I don't want to rush them ..... I have bought two used G & L guitars since and worked out a deal on a Broadcaster before the LE 2 or B-O came in but I still think it's worth the wait for a couple very special guitars ..... I still want a Fallout with blue flake ...lol .... and I will order it new and wait , and wait , and wait ...lol

It seems I'm in a rut all the time .... seems like when I can't get something right with max effort I can quit that song for a week or two then come back and start hitting it right



Scot , glad you got it !! ..... If I hadn't committed on a Broadcaster I would of had to have that baby ...lol ... what a beaut and 1998 seems to be a great year for G & L's , congrats on such a nice guitar , silver flake looks soo good and the Bigsby just pushes over the top

I've never played a scalloped neck, but wanted one very badly back in the '80s. Now, not so much...

The one piece of gear I've been waiting for has me on the verge of walking away from my favorite guitar shop for good. They have been a Moog dealer for as long as I've been going there. I've bought several Moogerfoogers from them, along with about half a dozen guitars, four amps, my son's sax and countless pedals and accessories. Last spring they were trying to gauge whether there was enough interest among their customers to remain a Moog dealer. I told them I'd definitely buy one synth this year, and at least two pedals I've had my eyes on. We agreed on the price for the synth, which had just debuted at NAMM and was about to start shipping. They don't take deposits, but I put all but $100 of the price on a gift certificate to show them good faith. That was March. The synth was supposed to arrive in April, but they admitted in May that it hadn't been ordered yet. Then I was promised July, and got the same story. After that it was September, and then October. Now we're into November and it still isn't on order. I'm about to use that gift certificate to buy a random bass off their wall, sell it on Talkbass to break even, and buy the synth from a dealer I can trust...
