Monday Lunch Report with a 70/80's vibe

Mon Nov 01, 2010 10:55 am

Lunch today is left over manicotti or home made chicken pot pie with
a garlic stuffing crust... ooooowheeee that's good... followed by some
meds and maybe a little golf....

I grew up in the 70’s / 80’s
which was a great time for music and
of course a time of

Fast Cars

and Fast Women

oh sorry don’t know how that got in there....

That’s better...kind of....

Most of the music I still listen to every day came from the 70’s
What are your..

1... Favorite Group from the 70’s that didn’t go on
for decades (which means you can’t pick Van Halen or Charlie Daniels)

I’d have to say mine was Thin Lizzy

2 Favorite Car from the 70's

Some folks in my town had a 73 lime green Challenger I liked a lot which was
odd since I wasn't a Dodge guy...

In the 1970s, Leo Fender designed guitars, basses and amplifiers for the Music Man corporation. In 1979 he and old friends George Fullerton and Dale Hyatt started a new company called G&L.

G&L Topic of the Day...
What is your favorite G&L finish?
(Any finish, as long as it was done by the folks at G&L)
Although I love my purple sparkle S500 and my WR's with the Teal and Silver
Bass Boat finish.. My favorite is..

Graham Parker and the Rumour.

Favorite Car of the 1970s?

Tough One but have to go with a 1970 Dodge Challenger - and make it a white one.

Favorite G&L Finish?

Don't really have one but I do like the black on black guitars

My favourite 70's group was probably Rainbow, with Dio only ofcourse. Gary Moore is an excellent player though, and I do enjoy his music. No clue on cars from the 70's, my favourite G&L colour is clear orange though.

Chris thanks for the 70's vibe, cool stuff.

Still had muscle cars then. A neighbor owned a suped up Nova that would fly.
Glad to see some attempt to bring the muscle back.

Also a Thin Lizzy fan back then, Phil Lynott RIP.
I thought Nazareth and Foghat were a ton of fun as well.

Even though I do not own this color, Will Ray's tourquise(sp?blue is very cool.

Great start!

Favorite car from the 70s- 1971 Plymouth Hemi-'Cuda - Mopar all the way!

Favorite 70's band that didn't go on- Derek and the Dominoes- The best rock rhythm section in the history of Rock and Roll!

Favorite finish by G&L- Sunburst over mahogany as done on my L-1000s. I have two of them. They are great basses.

I wasn't around in the '70s but really like a lot of the music and cars that came from the decade.

My favourite car - the HQ Holden. The Monaro variant is a classic Australian muscle car, perhaps one of the best looking muscle cars ever.

My father had a station wagon version of this particular model, called a Kingswood. Me and my sister have very fond memories of that car - especially sticking to the vinyl seats after a trip to the beach! It looked just like this

Favourite band - Television. Marquee Moon has to be one of my top 5 albums. I've bought it at least three times, reason being that I've lent it to other people who have also liked it so much that they had no intention of returning it.

Favourite G&L colours - Spanish Copper, Emerald Blue. I could go for a Gold Flake. It's a shame there isn't a Shell Pink type colour, I'd go for one of them

I missed out on the seventies. Was working way to hard to listen to a lot of music. I never left the sixties. I had a hard time getting past the Beachboys and many from that day. I even played Party Doll today. I am in a rut but it feels good!

Mopars were hard to beat in the seventies. I had a 1960 Plymouth Fury that cleaned everything around in its day. We used to watch what the Minnesota State Patrol drove in the old days. They usually drove the fastest cars available in stock form.

I still gravitate to reds and wine colors. My F-100 Return Edition is great for the eyes. G&L transparents always look great because of the woods they use. Chris, your favorite Legacy HB is a keeper. Great wood! -- Darwin

YOU FOLKS ROCK...

I Love the old fast cars and most of my friends had them when I
was in school.. I had a buddy in high school that had a 64 chevy
two door wagon that would run a 7 second quarter mile.. which is
stupid fast for us, and it would pull a wheelie, that kinda freaked me
out.... lookin at the road.. lookin at the sky.... in a STATION WAGON...!!!!!

Well, for music I'm going to say Kansas. They did carry over into the early 80s and have tried to reinvent themselves a few times since, but really, their period of highest releveancy was the 70s with some carryover to the early 80s.

Favorite car...I had a hand-me-down 1970 Chevy Chevelle Malibu. My aunt had purchased it new, but when I got it in 1983 it had been abused by her lousy second husband...it was nothing to look at, but it had power and I always dreamed of fixing it up...never got past the dreaming part, though.

Favorite finish would be cherryburst...pretty much the pic you've got there, Chris!!
