Very bright ASAT Deluxe?
I just picked up an ASAT Deluxe semi hollow, f-holes, flame maple top and 2 humbuckers. I really like it a lot. But, it seems to have one issue, it is too bright. I find myself turning down the tone almost 3/4 of the way off. Its challenging finding the sweet spot where it is just right.
BTW: my other electric is an ASAT Classic Three and the Deluxe is much brighter than the Classic.
Is it the pickups on the Deluxe, the setup or is this just the norm for this guitar?

No, except maybe you did activate the switch for splitting the humbuckers, did you?

--Charley What ASAT Deluxe??? Please post a photo. Did you purchase it new or used? What pickups are in it? Stock pickups: Neck - Seymour Duncan '59 (SH-1), Bridge - Seymour Duncan JB (TB-4) or optional pickups: EMG 85/81 humbucker set or ? Have you tried lower the pickups? Also, don't forget to add it to the Registry.

Re: Very bright ASAT Deluxe?
Sorry for not being more specific. And I will get a picture, post and register. I purchased it off eBay. It is a NOS 2012 ASAT Deluxe, maple neck and fingerboard, semi-hollow, f-holes and flame top.
It has the stock Seymour Duncan pickups in it. I have not lowered the pickups. I have never done that myself before. Is there anything more to it other than turning the pickup pole screws a bit?

Don't turn the pickup pole screws at this point. If you want to adjust pickup height, turn the screws on either side of the pickup - the same distance in the same direction. You might want to write down how much you move them in case you want to re-adjust the height later. Lowering the pickup (s) will mellow out the sound a bit & reduce the volume produced.

--Charley I have the same guitar in lefty, semi hollow with f hole, maple board stock Duncans. Mine has a mahogany body. It's not bright. If anything lowering the pickups will increase the brightness. I haven't adjusted the pickups at all though. As mentioned make sure you haven't been using it in split coil mode.

What height are your pickups set at?

Re: Very bright ASAT Deluxe?
I never made the experience, that pickup height can bring the sound from anything to bright and even too bright. Would be the solution for all these dull sounding cheap humbuckers.

I registered it yesterday and put up some pictures on the G&L Porn section... Craig wrote: charleyrich wrote: I just picked up an ASAT Deluxe semi hollow, f-holes, flame maple top and 2 humbuckers.
