When did they stop using the "Patent Pend." DFV bridges?

Thanks.

I'm unsure if they ever did. I just checked my 2006 Legacy (with the newer metric trem arm), and that still has "Pat. Pend." written on it.

Really. So did they apply, get a pending status while filing but never got the patent? If so, I wonder why it was rejected...

Thanks again.

I don´t know which patent corresponds to what you call DFV bridge, but the bridges in the G&L Patents page (http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/GALLERY2/ma ... temId=5580) were all patented long time ago.

Yes, I saw that. I just wanted to know why now a 2006 instrument could have the "Pending" status stamped into the bridge... Without diving into this patent, do the patent(s) only cover part of the overall bridge design?

Thanks.

It could be that your bridge is covered by a patent application that is actually pending; that they simply forgot to change the "Patent pending" to the corresponding patent number or that they have a large stock of bridges with the "patent pending". If there is no patent number on the bridge, it is difficult to know what really happens without help from someone in G&L.

Regarding the other question, there is for instance a patent covering mainly the mechanism for attaching the arm to the bridge (http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/GALLERY2/ma ... temId=5603), this other patent is about the saddles (http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/GALLERY2/ma ... temId=5608) and this one is more for the overall design (http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/GALLERY2/ma ... temId=5585).

Thanks. It never lets me down. G&L rocks!
