N(U)GD Prototype

Despite not really being in the market for a new guitar I added one this weekend. Had been watching a very nice Bluesboy on the local CL but felt it was too similar to my Bluesboy 90 to warrant purchasing. Finally decided to call and of course it was gone but the same seller had this prototype listed that I decided to buy. Sorry for the low quality pics
I have not owned humbuckers since I was young so it seems like a good addition for me. So far it strikes me as a very fun and useable guitar. This was the first working guitar for this model and was gigged by G&L employees and it has a healthy finish crack to show for it. More details appear at this link - this guitar is about 2/3rds down (lots of interesting guitars at this link though)

I don't completely love the color but it's alright. I do really like the black headstock. The Duncan pickups sound very good but that's something I could play with if I decide to keep the guitar. The price was very reasonable so I think post pandemic it would not be hard to recoup most or all of my investment.

Thanks. Still learning it but the tone is quintessential humbucker. It's a natural for classic/hard rock tones. I'm pleasantly surprised by how the tone responds to the volume and tone controls. It's very touch sensitive and the pickups retain a good deal of string detail. I'm also surprised by how much "spank", "sparkle" and "twang" the guitar retains- somehow it still has some Leo tone in it.
I plugged in rather late Labor Day so was trying to play very quiet and it still sounded really good. Looking forward to trying some different strings. I may try pure nickel.
After playing a bit more I do think a trip to the luthier is in the near future- seems like the fret ends could be a bit cleaner.
Kudos to G&L too. I had emailed them about the guitar and the response was super fast. Nice customer service!
