Info on a G&L

I recently purchased a G&L ASAT.

Serial Number is G030570 and it has Leo Fenders signature on the horn of the body. It has the 2 nearly humbucker style Black pickups.

I am asuming it was made in about '91 due to the signature on the body. Can anyone help with any information. There are so many different types out there.

The most accurate way to determine the age of your guitar is to remove the neck. The manufacturing dates are located in the neck pocket (see Knowledgebase article). Another method that is much less accurate is to review the G&L registry and look for serial numbers that bracket yours. However, as the article in the knowledge base states, G&L did not adhere to sequential numbering.

That particular model, ASAT Signature, was build from 1988-1992.

The guitar was most likely built in 1992. It's possible that it was built in Nov or Dec. of 1991 but as of Dale Hyatt's retirement on Nov 4th 1991, the highest serial number that had been received by the sales dept. was G030015. It could however, have been ordered prior to Nov 4th as the dates on which the guitars were ordered by the sales dept were not recorded. As previously stated the most accurate way to date it is to remove the neck and check the dates. The guitar was typically received by the sales dept within about a week of the body date. You may find the body date missing which is not that uncommon on guitars manufactured around 90 or 91. The necks were typically stockpiled and could have have a date as much as six months earlier than the body.

Sound like you have an ASAT Signature model in Cherryburst finish. Can you post a picture of it?

Yes, that is an ASAT Signature model. BTW, the body wood is Swamp Ash.

So are these specs from http://www.ggjaguar.com/91asatsig.htm correct for my G&L, with my modifications?

Tuners: Sperzel, sealed, brushed chrome

Pickups: Two, G&L Magnetic Field Design single coil with adjustable pole pieces

Controls: Master volume, master tone, 3-way pickup selector switch

Scale Length: 25 1/2 inches

Neck Width at Nut: 1 5/8 inches

Body Width at Lower Bout: 12 5/8 inches

Yes, except for the weight. I could not say that yours is the same weight. It may be more or it may be less.
Swamp Ash and Greg's reference to ash is the same.
BTW, the locktight bridge name has since changed to the Saddle-Lock bridge. Construction wise they are the
same.
