New (to me) Guitar Day- Pre 2005 USA Legacy
Just picked this up used in what seemed like a pretty nice deal for the price of a used MIM Fender Strat. I am very impressed with the build quality and playability. Easily as good or maybe better than any Fender Am Std or Am Deluxe Strat that I have had before. I have a love/hate thing with Strats. I love them when others play them and when I do not so much. Thought I would give G&L a try based upon user comments. This setup amazingly well. It is a pre 2005 model I believe since it uses a 1/8" truss rod Allen wrench. I tweaked the relief slightly down to .008". Action setup low at 3/64" on high E with great intonation. Stays in tune. Trem is smooth. Not sure of fingerboard radius but feels like 12" which I like. Neck has 1 11/16" nut width when I measured it and is fairly meaty. Have not measured it but maybe it is a Classic C plus. Am figuring out how to use the Treble and Bass tone controls on the Legacy. I am realizing that reducing the treble pot is really important. LOL. Was thinking I would want to mod this and get a humbucker in to make it a HSS, but maybe not. Very nice guitar.Only question I have is suggestions on how to maximize Quack in the 2 and 4 positions. Will play around with pickup heights and the tone settings I guess.

sweet Legacy, sounds like you got a good deal on a nice guitar. when i switched from F strat to Legacy, I was most impressed with pickups (CLF-100 alnico), the quality of the bridge-tailpiece-vibrato unit (always thought that was the weak point of a strat) and the PTB tone control system which is extremely useful in all positions. I usually roll the treble down to 6-7 and bass down to 5-6. enjoy!

I am liking the Treble around 5-6 and the Bass around 7-8 on clean amp settings.

I adjust mine for sound balance and usually end up with the bridge the highest/closest and neck lowest/farthest with the middle pup in between , Congrats and sweet guitar

Very nice! Your Legacy has the optional #4 neck (1 11/16 inch nut width, 2 1/4 inch width at body joint, 12-inch radius), see: What are the USA neck size options, past and present?. And you are right it is similar to the current "Classic C plus" neck. When you get a chance, please add your Legacy to our G&L Registry.

I am used to 12" radius necks and this feels great. First Strat I ever really enjoyed playing. Will add it to the registry. The guy I bought it from thought it was mid-2000 but was not sure. Here is serial number FWIW.

It seems that it's already in the registry. Either that or you just did it.

Sweet looking Legacy, love the body match headstock! Proof that model delete isn't necessary as default for paintes headstocks! Fumble Fingers has a good seggestion about ajusting the heights for balance. On G&L's FAQ page, it suggest using the old set-up guide as a good place to start. The micro tilt part and adjustable pole pieces obviosly don't apply... http://www.glguitars.com/faq/GLmanual.pdfCongratulations again, CAR is a great color. Cheers, Dan
