Another Prototype Bridge

Check out this prototype bridge from a 2011 ASAT Deluxe I saw in an auction.

Nice tight compact box steel type of bridge. Does anyone know what they were going for and how many of these ended up on guitars? Looks like a cool Idea for a HH configuration but other than that, what's the good, bad and ugly of something like this as opposed to a saddle lock bridge? It almost looks like this would bring the saddles closer to the nut making it a smaller scale.

Interesting stuff Tom, but looks like they put a GE Smith bridge on to me. Did the ad claim this as a G&L prototype? Any other pictures i.e. from the back and ad copy could shed a little light maybe.

I don't know if we are supposed to put links on here anymore but cut and paste this into your browser and you can see the add. They don't even mention the bridge in the auction. Just says it's a pine prototype. Let me know what more you think.

I remember seeing this one before and thought the prototype aspect was the pine body and the HH ASAT configuration. Funny, at the time I didn't pay too much attention to the bridge itself. Probably because they are small photos and usually only show one. They refer to this as merely the "shortened ASAT classic bridge". Kind of a boring name huh?

Thanks Craig, simple info, I just never recalled seeing one before. Anyone own one that can give a report on tone, sustain etc? I don't care too much for the regular box steel type bridge cause it digs into my hand sometimes.

So if you look in the neck pocket will there be a "SABRC" code for what type of bridge to put in?
