Personally I never liked the practice, its like shirts and jeans that already have holes in them when they are new. We used to work real hard to wear in our jeans. But they started as new and every battle scar was personal.

It's very similar to the Rustic Series they did from 2009 - June 2015. See: Production List of G&L Instruments (USA).
I think they are testing the waters with these special production runs, to get dealer and customer feedback.

If that's the case, then sign me up! I like the reliced finishes.

AFAIK, it's all nitrocellulose lacquer.
I got confirmation, it is nitro base, color, top.

As the happy new owner of that Surf Green Fallout that went to Upfront Guitars, I thought it might be helpful to say this about these photos: THEY DO NOT DO THIS FINISH JUSTICE. This is no fault of the G&L folks - not surprising that workbench photos can't always be perfect. The point is - it is drop-dead gorgeous, and definitely surf green, not really the pale blueish color it shows up as in these pictures, at least on my computer. It actually took me a little while to figure this out (due to some weird lighting problems). If you want to see what it actually looks like - check out the photos on Upfront's website. Much more accurate.

Here is a picture of my nitro legacy. I don't know if the nitro imparts any special mojo, but this guitar feels great in my hands and has great tone, both acoustically and plugged in. Plus it has that smell. I really love this guitar.

Yes, it's all stock. I picked it up a couple of months ago, brand new on Reverb. G&L is making incredible guitars these days!

Beautiful guitars. Interesting that I had just called G&L, before logging on, here, to find out if my 2010 ASAT Classic was poly or nitro, as I'm buying a new stand and I'm wary of the neoprene. I haven't been here in a while and what's the first thing I see...?

I could probably just look this up, but I'm curious: what's the advantage of the nitro? Aging? As is, I love the look of my poly Vintage White.

Your body finish will be polyurethene for Graphite Metallic. You should have a Build Specification sheet in with the COA in a black G&L envelope in your case.
It will list the complete specifications. If you got this used and the seller did not include the Build Specifications sheet, you can purchase a replacement from the
G&L On-Line Store, here's the link: REPLACEMENT CERTIFICATES.
