The following tune,
Shades, was recorded using my G&L Tribute Legacy. The
first lead solo is with the Legacy. The
second lead solo is with a set of coils I hand wound and placed in a partscaster. Coils are AlNiCo 5 magnets dipped in nitrocellulose, fiber bobbins and 42 gauge formvar. Rhythm guitar is with the G&L throughout and also a Flamenco guitar.
Myself, I like the G&L coils, they have a little more sparkle and definition. By contrast, the hand wound coils are a little darker and edgier.
