I asked Dave regarding the headstock model decal and availability of the new MFD Jazz pickups. Here is his reply:

We decided to go without a model decal on Doheny. The headstock is kind of a shortened and reworked version of the mid '80s style and it looked so clean without a model name we made the decision to leave it off.
As for the pickups in the store, I imagine that will happen though probably not very soon. If I had to guess, I'd say spring.

The G&L Saddle-Lock bridge is an optional bridge. I believe mutts is referring to the FMIC Jazzmaster tremolo bridge as the "traditional bridge".
Ahhh. I wasn't aware that there of that jazz-master tremolo at all. Looks interesting, but functionally I can't see it being better than, or even equal to the DFV. Thanks for pointing me in that direction Craig. I think I understand Mutt's post much better now.
I spoke with my dealer over the weekend to get specs & pricing for the Doheny. He is saying that there are no neck profile or radius options. Is that true? If so, what was the reasoning behind it?
I prefer a slim C neck with a 7" radius to fit my smaller hands. Will there be neck options in the future?

We were told that this model will have all available USA model neck and body options. You should be able to order the neck of your choosing. I'd ask your dealer to confirm, or pick another dealer.

The current neck for the Doheny is the Modern Classic.
The customer can specify the radius but, other neck shapes
are not available at the moment.
The default neck on the Doheny falls under the slim C category.
I’d recommend having the customer call a dealer to get details.

The difference between Modern Classic and Slim C is the nut width.
Modern Classic - 1 11/16” nut width with 1 5/8” string spacing allows a generous edge roll for superb comfort without string fall-off.
Fairly slim with mild taper from 0.820” at 1st fret to 0.870” at the 12th fret.
Slim C - 1 5/8” nut width, slight edge roll, mild taper from 0.820” to 0.870”. These specs were part of the #1a neck.
Nobody picking on cho's remark about the 21 fret neck? I'm also wondering. And yes you might not/rarely need 22 frets. But you might want it too! And it's no question it's going to make the production process a little bit more complez as G&L has now to manage another different neck with a new and really different spec.
Bumping this thread back up. I'm surprised no one has taken the plunge on one and not bragged about it! What's the point? Just kidding. There are some really good offerings on Reverb for Dohenys. I've been tempted but have an SC-2 that seems similar enough in specs that I don't want to take the plunge without more info first.
