How to remove P90 cover, Tribute Fallout

Some time ago I bought a tribute fallout, the clear orange one from Full Compass. I wanted to play around with the looks a bit, and fitted a black pickguard and want to put nickel pickup covers. No problem for the bridge humbucker, but I could not get the cover off the neck P90. I unscrewed the two screws holding the pickup in the cavity, took the pickup out, and expected the cover to come right off. But it did not, even with applying as much force as I dared it did not move at all. Almost like its glued on.

Before I try harder and end up breaking a nice sounding pickup - has anyone tried taking this P90 cover off? Or has some insight from the G&L production side why it would not come off easily?

Any advice much appreciated!

All G&L pickups are wax potted and as a result the covers can stick to wax, making them difficult to remove. I and others have been successful using a handheld hair dryer, at a low to medium
