Is the S500 Deluxe model now the "S500 RMC" , or has that model been discontinued ?

Now all you need is an S-500 HH RMC (ala F-100) and an S-500 RMC SSH, like the one I own. It just rocks!

The S-500 Deluxe and Legacy Deluxe models were discontinued in July 2015, see: July 1, 2015-Feb 29, 2016 G&L U.S. Specifications & Options.
There is no S-500 RMC model, only the Legacy HSS RMC and Legacy HH RMC models, which were added in March 2016, see: March 1, 2016-present G&L U.S. Specifications and Options.

Thanks. I thought maybe the S500 Deluxe might have just got a name change as the Legacy Deluxe did.

Except the Legacy Deluxe specification had included:
Finish Standard and Premier finishes included
Body Premium flamed Maple top on Swamp Ash body

The Legacy HSS RMC does not include Premier finishes and the Premium flamed Maple top on Swamp Ash. They would be added options.

What are the finishes called on the 2nd,6th,7th,8th and 10th pic.Looks like blueburst, greenburst and blackburst. Is there a flamed top on some?

Re: Some photos of the new Legacy RMC models ...

Mon Jan 09, 2017 8:01 pm

2, 8, and 10 all have quilted maple caps.
6 has a flame maple cap
7 has no cap and ia swamp ash.

As for the finishes it looks to me that they are:

2 Greenburst
6 Cherryburst
7 Blueburst
8 Blackburst
10 Transparent Blue

I have added details for each photo.
Note: the Black Limba and Mahogany bodied guitars shown here are from factory special production runs. See: What does "special production run" mean?

Hope this helps.

RMC is not an option but are new models (Legacy HHS RMC and Legacy HH RMC). They are priced slightly higher then the Legacy HSS and Legacy HH models.
See a G&L dealer/distributor for pricing details.

As a professional fashion and portrait photographer one learns that people and faces look best when taken straight on or from above looking down.. especially with women as it
prevents the lens from making the face bulge at the bottom and look fat. Shooting from the bottom up is the least flattering of any angle one could choose.

I think the same thing applies to guitars which in all these photos look too ass heavy instead of the sexy beasts they really are... :confused0077:

I happened to overhear one day my 17 year old daughter instructing my 14 year old daughter on how to take a selfie the "right way". You need to be looking up into the phone which is held at arm's length to one side, and from above, making sure both eyes are in the photo, but definitely not head on, unless the camera is centered, and at a steeper angle. It was amusing to me that both my daughter's iPods were full of selfies, all variants of this same pose.

That's what this made me think of.

As far as these guitar photo's go, I think they serve the intended function - which I assume is to display the finish, and/or hardware of various guitars in a uniform way (all from the same/similar angle), in order that comparison between different guitars is easy.

I agree that portraits are better for showcasing the form of these guitars, but I don't think it is the form these pictures are intend to showcase. The angle these photos are taken at seems just right for comparing, say, a glossy finish and a matte finish. I wouldn't be surprised if a jig was rigged to take photos from this angle intentionally to make that comparison easy. To that end, I think these photos serve their intended function better than portrait photos would.

That's my muse at least. I'm not dismissing aesthetics, I'm just giving some thought to function over form.

@Dan..

Great points.. but I think people who are about to spend $3,000 on a bespoke hand crafted instrument by a tiny company on the
other side of the planet are already very well acquainted on the difference between a satin and a gloss finish.. :lolno:

We're not dealing with Walmart here..

@shuko

Thank you for the smile.

To clarify, when I offhandedly supplied the gloss/satin scenario, I was just suggesting one possible way in which an angled photo might give more information than a portrait photo (with regards to comparing various finishes and layouts). The example wasn't my point - though it was intended to support my point, or rather my muse - since I was just spit-balling for some scenario that might support the notion that the photos were angled this way intentionally.

I didn't intend to suggest that people don't know the difference between gloss and satin finishes - but rather that an angled photo might reasonably showcase such differences with more clarity (thus supporting the premise: "perhaps there is a reason they take the photos from this angle"). Had I instead (of the gloss/satin thing) spoken of the way light, when playing across more than one surface of a guitar in the same photo, is able to portray the depth and flavor of a particular finish with more clarity or realism (than a portrait photo might), I might not have confused the issue for you.

My apologies.
