Converting an ASAT Classic to Bluesboy

Fri May 27, 2011 8:42 am

Hi everybody,

I'm thinking about putting a seth lover instead of the regular MFD neck pickup.
Except the cavity, to anybody know if I have to change anything else to have a "bluesboy",
I mean do I have to change the resistors or the caps?
I've seen the shemes but i'm not sure...

maybe i just need to change that pup and that's all?

You will need to modify the bridge pickup or obtain a USA model Bluesboy bridge pickup.
See: Album: ASAT Classic Bluesboy Wiring Diagram and Picture Diagrams. Pay particular attention to the bridge pickup detail photo.

Hope this helps.

for the bridge pickup, it's only about changing a connection right?
do you know what it's for?

anyway thanks craig

To the best of my limited knowledge the Bluesboy bridge pickup is would ever-so-slightly differently to a standard ASAT in order to better match up with the humbucker in the neck. In comparison to my other ASATs the difference is negligible. Capacitor and potentiometer values are the same.

Happy modding!

here it seems that the tone cap are different :

- 0.1uf in asat classic : http://www.glguitars.com/schematics/ASAT_schematic_blockdiagram.pdf
- 0.047mf in the bluesboy... : http://www.guitarsbyleo.com/GALLERY2/main.php?g2_itemId=6524

does it change anything? or am I quibbling?

^^ remember mf = mu f , both mean 'micro' or 10^-6. It changes the response of the tone knob. I would say roll with the one typically used with single coils.

ok for the units..

so to sum up, I just need to change the polarity of the bridge pickup and to put the seth lover instead of the mfd...and making a new cavity for it
