What gauge & brand of strings does G&L use on their guitars?

The factory set-up was always .009 - .042 until Feburary 2002 when it was changed to .010 - .046.
In late 2006, G&L changed to the D'Addario brand. The brand prior had been SIT (about 10 years or so),
but prior to that it they used GHS, then back in the 80's they used G&L Hot Rounds (private label strings).

For basses, the gauges are .045, .060, .085, .100, and .130 B string on the 5-string.
The D-Addario bass string sets are:
For the 4-string models (string through the bridge), you would need the EXL170 set.
For the 5-string models (string through the body), you would need the EXL170-5SL set.
For fretless models, the factory installs Half Round strings:
For the 4-string models, you would need the ENR71 Half Rounds set.
For the 5-string models, you would need the ENR71-5SL Half Rounds set.
For the short scale basses: La Bella Roundwound short scale strings, .042-.060-.082-.104.

The Tribute series guitars were originally set up with .009 - .042 and then later changed to .010 - .046.
The Tribute series basses use the same gauges as the USA models.
The New Tribute Fallout Shortscale Bass uses D’Addario Nickel Roundwound short scale strings, .045-.065-.080-.100.
The Tribute strings have always been supplied by the local factory where they are built, with the exception of the new Tribute
Fallout Shortscale Bass (introduced on 7/1/2020).
