tone wood question

I play a mahogany-maple cap solid body LP with the warm original hummers. I am looking for the other end of the tone spectrum in a single coil axe. Would you choose the Fullerton Deluxe S500 with ash body or the S500 Deluxe with mahogany-maple cap? Both have identical pups, wiring, nut, and tremolo.

Thank you for your help.

I'd go with Ash. Probably a little less bass response than the mahogany core
with a little quicker attack. Maybe a little less bloom.

Happy hunting :searching:

I suppose the Ash would give you more of what you are looking for but I much prefer the Mahogany over any other woods. Try playing around with pickup height and see what that gives you. I find I can get a noticeable sharpness with Mahogany by raising the treble sides of the pickups a bit.

Thank you both. i appreciate your viewpoints. Eventually all the data in my head will coalesce around either the Fullerton Deluxe S500 or the S500 Deluxe.
